Formula E, London 2026.

The brief

For the 2026 London E-Prix, Star Live worked with Formula E Race Operations Limited to deliver spectator seating and team hospitality within the ExCeL race environment.

The programme included 9,396 seats across four temporary grandstands, integrated accessible viewing facilities and bespoke hospitality suites for Jaguar and Mahindra.

Star Live was responsible for the technical design and delivery of the grandstands, bringing the seating and hospitality workstreams together within the wider event programme.

The challenge

The London E-Prix presents an unusual temporary infrastructure challenge, with the race environment integrated into the existing ExCeL venue.

Grandstands needed to respond to the venue’s structural and spatial constraints while maintaining clear track sightlines, safe spectator circulation and accessible viewing.

Alongside the seating programme, two individual team hospitality environments needed to be developed within the same event footprint and programme.

Our solution

Star Live developed the four grandstands around their individual locations within ExCeL, using site surveys, sightline studies and capacity planning to inform each seating layout.

As both Designer and Contractor for the temporary grandstands, our team managed the structural design and engineering, spectator circulation, accessible viewing integration, technical documentation and RAMS through to delivery.

Alongside the 9,396-seat grandstand programme, Star Live delivered bespoke hospitality suites for Jaguar and Mahindra. Both environments continued to develop during the project, with additional works incorporated as team requirements evolved.

Managing the grandstands and hospitality as one programme gave Formula E a single Star Live team coordinating two very different areas of temporary infrastructure.

Impact

The completed programme provided 9,396 spectator seats across four grandstands, with accessible viewing integrated into the seating layouts and clear sightlines onto the race environment.

Alongside this, the Jaguar and Mahindra hospitality suites created dedicated environments for the teams and their guests.

Together, the project demonstrates Star Live’s ability to combine large-scale spectator infrastructure with bespoke hospitality delivery within the constraints of an existing international event venue.
