The brief
For the 2023 Ryder Cup at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Star Live worked with Ryder Cup Italy Limited to deliver the temporary infrastructure required for one of golf’s biggest international events.
The brief called for more than 10,500 spectator seats across the course, alongside a major hospitality complex at the 13th Hole, Fan Zone infrastructure, screen support structures and ancillary facilities.
From international logistics and installation through to event-time support and de-rig, the project required multiple temporary infrastructure workstreams to be delivered across an expansive championship golf course.
The challenge
Delivering temporary infrastructure across a live championship golf course required careful coordination of multiple structures, locations and workstreams within a fixed tournament programme.
Alongside the extensive spectator seating programme, the 13th Hole required grandstands, hospitality, modular units and Fan Zone infrastructure to be integrated into a single destination.
At the same time, the scope continued to evolve. Additional works and increased labour requirements were incorporated as the project progressed, while maintaining delivery across the site ahead of tournament week.
Our solution
Star Live delivered more than 10,500 spectator seats across Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, including two 1,024-seat grandstands at the 13th Hole.
The 13th Hole complex also incorporated the Terrace Club, a 340m² Vista roof, 24 modular hospitality and catering units and a 1,225m² Fan Zone. Additional infrastructure across the course included large-format screen supports, accessible viewing platforms and structures for the practice and driving range areas.
Star Live combined design, engineering, international logistics and site delivery to manage the programme as an integrated infrastructure project. As requirements developed, further grandstand works, flagpoles and dedicated standby teams were incorporated into the delivery.
Our team also provided operational support throughout tournament week, followed by the de-rig, removal and reinstatement of the temporary infrastructure after the event.
Impact
The completed project provided more than 10,500 spectator seats and the wider temporary infrastructure required to support the spectator, hospitality and operational experience across the 2023 Ryder Cup.
Beyond the course-wide grandstands, Star Live’s structures created accessible viewing areas, supported large-format screens and brought together hospitality, catering and Fan Zone facilities within the integrated 13th Hole complex.
The result was a comprehensive temporary infrastructure programme delivered across multiple locations within Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, combining scale and flexibility within the fixed deadlines of one of golf’s biggest international events.
