The brief
For London Fashion Week, Kennedy London appointed Star Live as its specialist build partner to develop the structural and logistical solution for H&M’s runway show inside the live construction site at 180 The Strand. Our role was to engineer a unified system that supported the creative ambition while accommodating the challenges of a complex central London site.
The challenge
The project required a bespoke catwalk, tiered guest seating and structural support for video screens, all within a courtyard operating as an active construction site with restricted access and limited loading capacity.
The environment demanded rigorous control over safety and logistics. Heavy plant movement confined working areas and narrow delivery windows meant every phase of the build had to be planned precisely. Each structural element needed to be installed within defined zones while maintaining clear circulation routes and aligning with Kennedy London’s spatial layout.
Our solution
Star Live designed a fully integrated structure combining vertical truss systems for video, tiered bleacher seating and a custom-built catwalk tailored to the available footprint.
Engineering the components as a unified system maximised space, ensured structural stability and enabled efficient installation within tight operational parameters. Logistics were sequenced in collaboration with site contractors, Kennedy and H&M, allowing the build to progress safely alongside ongoing construction activity.
This approach provided a controlled, reliable framework for the show, enabling the creative team to focus on delivery while Star Live managed the technical execution.
Impact
The installation transformed a restricted, high-activity worksite into a coherent runway environment for London Fashion Week.
By combining careful engineering with collaborative planning, Star Live enabled Kennedy London and H&M to realise a complex brief within challenging site conditions. The project demonstrated how specialist build support can turn ambitious creative ideas into workable, safe and visually effective show environments.
