The brief

For World Fitness Project Tour Stop 1, Star Live worked with C6 Works and the venue to transform Drumsheds into a temporary arena for three days of elite fitness competition.

The brief called for 3,500 temporary seats across the venue, combining grandstands and accessible viewing platforms with carefully considered sightlines, circulation and safe egress.

Designed around the unique layout of Drumsheds, the seating package needed to create an arena-style environment that brought thousands of spectators closer to the action.

The challenge

Creating a large-scale spectator environment within Drumsheds meant working around the existing venue and competition layout, with each seating location presenting different requirements.

Alongside maximising capacity, the seating needed to maintain sightlines and audience flow while integrating access routes and operational spaces within the grandstand structures.

The challenge was to bring those requirements together into a safe, cohesive spectator environment around the competition floor.

Our solution

Star Live designed and engineered three principal grandstand structures around their individual locations within the venue.

Raised structures maintained sightlines and circulation routes, including a tunnel beneath one grandstand, while dedicated athlete and family seating and accessible viewing platforms supported the spectator experience.

Integrated commentary and DJ positions accommodated the operational requirements of the event, with the different elements designed to work together around the competition floor.

Working closely with C6 Works and the venue, Star Live coordinated the installation of the temporary seating package ahead of the opening tour stop, creating a 3,500-seat temporary arena ready for three days of live action.

Impact

The completed installation transformed Drumsheds into an arena-style spectator environment, creating the capacity, sightlines and infrastructure needed to bring thousands of spectators closer to the competition.

By engineering the seating around the specific demands of the venue, Star Live delivered more than additional capacity. The temporary solution balanced scale, spectator experience and safe audience movement while supporting the operational requirements of the event.
