The brief
Regular Music appointed Star Live to deliver a bespoke 15m VerTech stage for the Edinburgh Castle Concert Series 2025. The requirement was to create a robust performance platform that could accommodate a varied programme of artists while working within the unique constraints of a world-famous heritage site.
The challenge
The project presented several significant challenges:
Restricted site parameters on the Castle Esplanade, with minimal space for large-scale infrastructure.
A requirement to maintain full daytime public access to the Castle throughout the build period.
Strict heritage and safety considerations, with construction methods needing to minimise impact on the historic environment.
The need for a versatile stage design capable of supporting performances ranging from amplified rock shows to orchestral concerts with complex technical requirements.
Our solution
Star Live delivered a tailored VerTech system engineered to balance production capability with heritage sensitivity. The stage was installed and removed overnight to schedule, minimising disruption while ensuring compliance with heritage restrictions.
Impact
Key outcomes included:
Operational efficiency – overnight load-ins and load-outs executed with precision and speed meant members of the public were able to access the Castle during the day.
Production flexibility – a stage platform capable of supporting a diverse programme of artists and formats.
Heritage protection – a build process designed to safeguard the Castle Esplanade at every stage.
Through close collaboration with Regular Music and the wider production team, Star Live delivered a reliable, high-performance solution in one of the most logistically challenging live entertainment environments in the UK.
