Grandstands and premium hospitality for a unique championship finale
At ExCeL London, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship reached its finale on the only indoor–outdoor circuit used in an FIA-sanctioned world championship.
Star Live was appointed by Formula E to provide large-scale spectator and hospitality infrastructure that could meet the demands of this unusual and high-profile event.
Meeting the challenge
The brief required seating for 10,000 spectators and premium hospitality suites for global racing brands. Every structure had to integrate with ExCeL’s dual indoor–outdoor track while delivering clear sightlines, comfort, and accessibility.
Working within ExCeL’s constraints presented additional complexity. Grandstand and hospitality builds were engineered within strict floor loading, height, and fire safety limits—using modular, free-standing systems designed to maximise capacity while protecting egress routes and venue integrity. From tiered seating to premium hospitality, all infrastructure had to be designed around the venue’s fixed load, service, and safety parameters, ensuring safe, high-capacity environments without compromising the guest experience.
Our solution
Star Live designed, engineered and installed 10,000 seats across five grandstands, carefully positioned to optimise visibility as the track transitioned between ExCeL’s interior halls and the outdoor docklands setting.
Two double-storey hospitality suites, each formed from 12 Starbox modular units, were delivered with rooftop terraces, sliding glass doors, internal staircases, and full climate control. These premium spaces were branded for Jaguar TCS Racing and NEOM McLaren Formula E, with interiors fitted by Imagination and Evolution Sports.
Despite the scale and technical constraints, the full build was completed in under two weeks, with de-rig and clearance achieved in just five days.
The Impact
The infrastructure delivered safe, high-capacity spectator environments and premium hospitality that reflected the profile of the championship finale. By combining modular flexibility with engineering precision, Star Live supported a seamless, high-profile conclusion to the Formula E season, staged at one of motorsport’s most technically demanding venues.
